From invisible to #1 in Singapore for “shades”.
Aura Shades is a Singapore sunglasses brand. When we started, the site was indexed but commercially invisible — nothing it ranked for was worth any money. Two months later it held the top organic position for its single most valuable head term, and Google's AI Overview had started citing it by name.
The situation
Indexed, but earning nothing.
This is the most common and least understood problem in e-commerce SEO. The site was not broken. Google knew it existed. Pages were in the index.
But in March 2026 the entire domain ranked for eleven keywords in Singapore, and the only one on page one was “best non polarized sunglasses for driving” — a term with ten searches a month. The brand term “aura” sat at position 91. Its most valuable commercial head term, “shades”, did not rank at all.
Being indexed is not the same as being findable. A site can be perfectly crawlable and still be invisible for every query that would actually produce a sale, which is exactly where this one was.
The work
What we changed.
Fixed the foundation first
Crawl and indexation audit, canonical and redirect cleanup, structured data across product and collection templates, and Core Web Vitals remediation. None of the content work would have compounded on a broken base.
Made collection pages compete
Category pages were treated as ranking assets rather than filtered product lists. The polarised sunglasses collection now holds position one for “polarised” and page two for “polarised sunglass” — a 390-searches-a-month term it previously had no presence on.
Published answer-first content
A question-led editorial programme targeting what buyers actually ask: polarised versus non-polarised for driving, choosing lens colour, sunglasses for golf and for running. Each written question-first, with a complete, self-contained answer directly beneath the heading.
Structured for answer engines
The same content structured so machines can lift a clean answer from it — semantic headings, schema markup and server-rendered HTML. This is what turned rankings into AI Overview citations rather than just blue links.
The results
Same domain, five months apart.

The part most agencies cannot show you
Google's AI Overview now cites them by name.
Ranking is only half of it. When someone asks Google a question and gets an AI Overview instead of a list of links, the only businesses that exist are the ones the answer is built from.
Aura Shades is currently cited inside the AI Overview for three Singapore search terms. That is answer engine optimisation producing a measurable result, not a theory about where search is heading.
“shades”
Cited in the AI Overview, and holding organic position 1. 1,100 searches a month at keyword difficulty 86 — the hardest and most valuable term in the category.
“polarised”
Cited in the AI Overview, organic position 1, pointing at the polarised sunglasses collection page rather than a blog post — a commercial page winning an informational query.
“polarized sunglasses and driving”
Cited in the AI Overview, organic position 1, from the editorial article written specifically to answer that question directly.
Being straight about it
What this case study does not claim.
The traffic numbers are still small in absolute terms. Twenty-one estimated organic visits a month is a beginning, not a triumph, and we are not going to dress it up as one. What matters is the shape of the curve: 26 new ranking keywords in the latest period, none lost, and the highest-value term in the category taken outright.
Head terms like “shades” also carry mixed intent, and a share of that position-one traffic is navigational. We would rather tell you that than let you discover it.
